The Bayfield School District Board of Education is pleased to announce that they have selected a sole finalist candidate to interview for their interim superintendent vacancy. The candidate selected for interviews is Mary Rubadeau of Durango, Colorado.
The interview is scheduled to be conducted on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. Stakeholders
will have the opportunity to meet the sole final candidate and submit input to the board
during a Meet and Greet event on Tuesday, May 26th at:

Bayfield School District retained the services of McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C. to assist
in conducting their search. The consultant reviewed, screened, and conducted
background checks on seventeen applicants. On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, the consultant
presented the applicants to the Board of Education and provided them detailed
background information on each applicant before the board selected one candidate as the
finalist.
This position is a one year interim position. The board plans to start a full search in
December for a permanent replacement.
