Superintendent Welcome Back Message

Bayfield Families, August 1, 2023

Every person, every career, every organization, every family and every team will have to overcome negativity, adversity and challenges to define themselves and create success. Optimism, trust, enthusiasm, love, purpose, joy, passion, and spirit to live, work, and perform at a higher level; to build and lead successful teams; to overcome adversity in life and at work; to share contagious energy with staff and students to bring out the best in others and in yourself; and to overcome all negative people and negative situations that threaten to sabotage your health, family, team and success.” –The Energy Bus, Jon Gordon. 

We have built and implemented amazing opportunities for our students, staff and community over the past few years. I am excited to continue those initiatives and focus our positive energy on the great things that we have planned for Bayfield School District. As always, we will continue to value the traditions that make our district a great place to learn and grow while looking into the future and ensuring our students are future ready citizens.

We will continue to hold ourselves and students to high expectations and accountability. We will build instructional strategies that will allow us to not only offer a first class education through building strong relationships and focusing on a great classroom experience, but also to recognize and encourage positive behavior and support our students at every level. The future of our students depends on us and I have no doubt each and every one of us will step up to that challenge.

We will provide opportunities for you to become familiar with our Continuous Improvement efforts if you haven’t already done so. Continuous Improvement provides us the opportunity to make consistent incremental progress towards improvement of our systems and processes. This allows our teaching staff to deliver engaging lessons that foster thinking and educational development for all students and removes barriers to learning ensuring our district is  a  great place to work and learn.

We have been intentional in bringing back the positive culture that our community is used to and made significant strides last year. We will not forget that integrity and honesty are key to our success. Our efforts to focus on a positive culture and climate will continue to serve as the cornerstone of our district and allow for a successful focus on instruction. We welcome you to come to our School or District Accountability meetings and provide constructive feedback to help us on our path to excellence.

I can’t wait to see smiles on our students' faces as they enter our buildings on August 14th and 15th. I have attached the school district calendar as a reminder. As always, summer allows us to reflect on the importance of family and friends. I hope that each of you are able to spend the remaining time before we return together with your families, hold them close, and hug them tight. Rest and relax for the last few days of your break. Please continue to openly communicate with our team here at BSD, and as always, please be in contact with your child’s teacher first.
