Update:  Students will meet in the band room at 8:00 am and depart for BHS around 8:15. We're hoping to get there in time to see Meeker High School band perform at 8:30. At the end of the event, all students will be back on buses around 12:30 pm and back to BMS shortly after that.

  • Performance Times (tentative):
    • Band: 9:30 AM
    • Orchestra: 10:15 AM

Location:

  • Bayfield High School (on campus)

Participants

  • 7th and 8th grade band and orchestra students (required performance)
  • Includes one 6th-grade student (Max Wortis)
  • Total Students: Approximately 50

Transportation & Logistics

  • No buses required (event is on campus)
  • No substitutes required

Permissions & Communication

  • Families will be informed on March 27, 2026
  • Permission slips were initially thought to be unnecessary due to the on-campus location (confirmation pending)
  • If needed, digital permission slips can be provided

Meals

  • Sack lunches will be needed for 25 students
  • Students not receiving school lunch: 25

Student Expectations & Preparation

Students should bring:

  • Instruments
  • Music
  • Concert black attire
  • Water
  • Lunch

Cost

  • No cost to students
  • No money collection required

Curriculum Connection

Subject Area: Music Performance

Academic Purpose:
Students will:

  • Perform prepared pieces for professional adjudicators
  • Receive feedback and scores to guide future performances
  • Participate in a masterclass with adjudicators
  • Complete a sight-reading performance of new music
  • Potentially attend a performance by the United States Navy Band, including a Q&A session

This experience supports skill development, performance evaluation, and real-world application of musical learning.


Additional Notes

  • Students will be supervised by attending staff throughout the event
  • The trip supports ongoing preparation for spring concerts and continued musical growth
