Native American Student Resources-Title VI

The Bayfield School District has over 14% of its student population who are Native Americans and represent 17 different indigenous tribes from around the United States.

Title VI is a federal grant program for Native American students in the United States. Its purpose is to support these students academically and culturally. Parent involvement, through our Native American Parent Advisory Committee (NAPAC), advises our district on the programs wanted and needed for their students as well as takes part in the planning for activities and events. In addition, our districts provide staff training annually in order for our teachers to work more effectively in the classroom with our indigenous students.

Our neighbor, the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, and their Johnson O'Malley Committee (JOM), also support and contribute to our efforts, and together we are making a difference in the lives and academic success of each Native American student.
