School Screening Testing Program

school buildingDear Parents/Guardians and Staff,
Bayfield School District and each family has the option to enroll students in the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s (CDPHE) free, voluntary, and statewide COVID-19 school testing program for K-12 during the 2021-22 school year. This voluntary program is a critical step to keeping our students and teachers healthy and allowing us to continue in-person learning. The safety of our students and educators is our top priority.
This program is designed to offer weekly testing to students and to staff to more quickly identify a potential case of COVID-19. This extra layer of COVID-19 prevention will allow Colorado schools to detect infections early and get ahead of outbreaks, including asymptomatic spread, helping students to safely continue in-person learning. This program is at no cost to schools and provides all of the resources necessary to run a successful screening testing program.  Furthermore, participants in this testing program do not have to isolate while testing negative for COVID, even when they have a close contact with a person who is COVID-positive.
All students under 18 must obtain parental/guardian consent to participate in this voluntary program. The Bayfield School District has opted into this program, but will not take any of the incentives that are offered by CDPHE.
